Taika Waititi Teams Up With Popular Chef Andy Hearnden To Prepare Pispili And The Result Is 'Brilliant'
The video begins with Andy Cooks asking his partner, “Hey babe, what do you wanna eat?”
Actor and filmmaker Taika Waititi recently tried his hand at Albanian cuisine by making Pispili, a traditional dish that consists of cornbread filled with leeks and feta cheese. Teaming up with popular food content creator Andy Hearnden aka Andy Cooks, Waititi embarked on this culinary adventure. The video showcasing their cooking process filled with Waititi’s signature humour quickly gained traction on the internet.
Andy Cooks has a unique video style where he starts by asking his partner, “Hey babe, what do you wanna eat?" Katelyn Flood, his partner, responds with a distinct dish each time. Following this format, Waititi posed the same question to his wife Rita Ora. She requests for Pispili, a dish Waititi amusingly struggled to pronounce.
Throughout the video, Andy seamlessly performed tasks demonstrating his cooking expertise. Meanwhile, Waititi in his comedic fashion took his time even with simple tasks like picking mint leaves. The duo’s fun interactions made for an entertaining watch as they prepared the dish together. At one point, Waititi visibly cringed at the idea of chopping greens on marble.
When the Pispili was finally prepared, Rita smelled the dish and deemed it delicious, though she humorously expressed doubt that her husband had managed to prepare it himself.
Andy sharing the video on Instagram, wrote, “Pispili! We were having way too much fun filming this video and I wasn’t 100% happy with how the dish turned out so I’m gonna remake the dish again and will post the updated recipe then."
