Our country is a hub of unexpected and bizarre happenings that frequently gain headlines and attention among the public. According to a report by Local18, a school teacher was caught chewing tobacco in front of children, which cost him his job.
As per the reports, during the inspection of a school in the district of Jamui, Bihar, a teacher was found to be consuming tobacco, commonly called khaini, in front of the students. And his second offence was to wear casuals on the same day. So, the education department was compelled to take strict action against the man.
According to reports, the department has asked the teacher to explain his situation, to which he was given 24 hours to respond. District Program Officer, Manas Milind of the Education Department, sent a letter of clarification on the matter. The case is reported from the Kisanmantand primary school located in the Sono block, Jamui. The action is being taken against Ranjit Kumar, an assistant teacher at the institution.
According to the letter written by Manas Milind, a surprise inspection was carried out on July 18, of all the schools that came under Sono block. So, the Kisanmantand Primary School was also inspected and Ranjit Kumar was caught chewing tobacco while teaching in front of the kids, in casual attire. The District Program Officer stated that the teacher’s situation indicated dereliction of duty, negligence and arbitrariness. He was given 24 hours to explain to the education department.
According to a 2022 report, the education department of the state issued strict instructions to control instances similar to the one mentioned above. The instructions were issued after the department received several complaints on the matter. According to the instructions, the teachers were to be suspended immediately, if caught consuming tobacco.
