One of India’s top medal prospects and the reigning national champion, Sarvesh Kushare will look to pull off a remarkable show at the upcoming edition of the Olympics, scheduled to be held in Paris. Kushare will take part in the men’s high jump event at the Paris Olympics. The 29-year-old had won the men’s high jump event at the Qosanov Memorial 2024 athletics meet held in Almaty, Kazakhstan earlier this year in June. As per The Times of India, Raosaheb Jadhav, who was Kushare’s physical education teacher in school, introduced the young Indian athlete to the high jump.
“To achieve success in the high jump, Fosbury style must be followed. Since the requisite mat was not available, I and Sarvesh’s father tried to find out ways to prepare a similar mat and after some research, we achieved the desired result,” Raosaheb Jadhav was quoted as saying.
Sharing how he started living a dream of qualifying for the Olympics, Sarvesh Kushare said, “After I won my first national medal, Jadhav sir told me that this was just the first step as you need to bring medals for India and become an Olympic medalist. And I started living a dream of qualifying for the Olympics.”

Paris Olympics Qualification
Sarvesh Kushare earned a quota for the Paris Olympics 2024, in the men’s high jump event after registering a 23rd-place finish in a cutoff list of 32, as per Olympics.com.
He became the first-ever Indian to advance to the Olympics in the high jump, reported The Times Of India.
