Ramesh Narayan under fire for refusing to accept an award from Malayalam actor Asif Ali. The video of the incident has gone viral.

Malayalam music director Ramesh Narayan is under fire for his behaviour towards actor Asif Ali. Ramesh and Asif were attending the trailer launch of the upcoming Malayalam anthology, Manorathangal, where Asif was asked to present Ramesh with a memento. Ramesh allegedly refused to accept it from the actor.

Instead, he asked the anthology’s director Jayaraj to present him with the memento. Initially, the filmmaker hesitated to fill Asif’s shoes. However, he eventually caved and present the memento to Ramesh. The video of the same has gone viral on social media. Ramesh has been receiving backlash for his behaviour.

A social media user tried to understand what might have gone down. “I guess Ramesh Narayan the Music Director stubbornly wanted to receive the award from his director Jayaraj. However he should have requested the same to organisers rather than disrespecting Asif by not even having eye-contact,” a user on X said.

“It was totally disrespectful that too from an experienced old man. There is a basic thing called respect which ppl forget when they reach high level. Shame on you Ramesh Narayan,” added another. “Very poor etiquette from him,” a third user said. “Refusing to get an award from someone he dislikes and completely ignoring them is just horrible behavior. So disappointing!” a fourth user said.

“Extremely unprofessional behaviour by Ramesh Narayan towards Asif Ali. The anchor mistakenly referred to Ramesh as Santosh Narayanan and this seems to have triggered his ego,” a social media user added.

Ramesh and Asif are yet to comment on the incident.

Meanwhile, Manorathangal is an upcoming anthology, directed by MT Vasudevan Nair. The anthology, which features nine films, stars Mammootty, Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, Kamal Haasan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and Madhoo, among others. The anthology will relese on August 15.
