The much-awaited third season of Mirzapur has hit the OTT screens on July 5. After a four-year-long wait, the crime drama series is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Similar to the previous two seasons, the third instalment of the series will centre around the thrown of Mirzapur. It consists of 10 episodes, each equipped with a cliffhanger at the end. In contrast to its previous seasons, Mirzapur 3 has fallen short of the high expectations of the viewers. The mixed reviews are still circulating on the internet with some calling it a Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal) show, while others condemned the lack of screen time of Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) and Shatrugan/Bharath Tyagi (Vijay Varma). Amid this, it should also be noted that Mirzapur is one of the most successful Indian web series. The hype for the third season was noteworthy and so was the remuneration of the lead actors.
Set against the backdrop of Mirzapur, the crime thriller boasts a talented ensemble cast including Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Dugal and Divyendu Sharma. As per The Financial Times, Pankaj Tripathi earned approximately Rs 10 crore for his portrayal in Season 2. It is believed that his fee will see a substantial increase in this season.
Rasika Dugal, who played the role of Beena, the wife of Kaleen Bhaiya in this web series, impressed everyone with her amazing performance. She reportedly took Rs 2 lakh for each episode. The remuneration is estimated to be Rs 20 lakhs for Mirzapur Season 3. Shweta Tripathi, who played the character of Golu, reportedly took Rs 2.20 lakhs for each episode. The centre of attraction in Mirzapur season 3, Guddu Pandit, played by Ali Fazal, took the remuneration of over Rs 1 crore for his role over the season. He reportedly charged Rs 12 lakh per episode.
The second season of Mirzapur ends with the death of Munna Bhai, played by Divyendu Sharma. The first episode of the third season also starts with Munna Bhai’s funeral. In the limited screen time of Pankaj Tripathi aka Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal – Guddu Pandit – makes various efforts to become the king of Mirzapur.
