Paris Olympics 2024: 5 Indian-Origin Athletes Representing Other Countries

Rajeev Ram (40) was born in USA to parents who migrated from Bangalore. He teamed up with Venus Williams to clinch the mixed doubles 2016 Rio Olympics.

The six-time major tennis champion will compete in the men’s doubles event at 2024 Paris Olympics with Austin Krajicek.

France’s table tennis player, Prithika Pavade made her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, at just 16 years of age.

Her Puducherry-born father migrated to Paris and she is a French citizen now. She will compete in women’s singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

The 24-year-old will be competing for Canada in the men’s singles event at Paris. His mother is from Mumbai and his father was raised in Kolkata and Prayagraj.

He was USA’s youngest athlete at the 2016 Rio Olympics and also the first American to win a medal at the Youth Olympics in Argentina in 2018.

Known as Singapore’s Sprint Queen, Veronica Shanti Pereira has her roots in Kerala. She will compete in the women’s 100m race in Paris.

Pereira made history last year by ending Singapore’s 49-year drought in track and field medals at the Asian Games, securing a silver in the women’s 100m event.

Representing Canada, Amarveer made his Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 in the men’s 125kg freestyle event.

Amar Dhesi (Wrestling)

The 28-year-old Punjab-origin former Greco-Roman national champion will compete in the same event at Paris 2024 and aim for his first Olympic medal.
