Know the harmful effects of continuous Mobile phone use. Experts discuss the correct distance to maintain.

The number of smartphone users in our country is constantly increasing. It has become a threat rather than a necessity. Due to a lack of information, people are torturing their eyes by being glued to their mobile phones for hours. Using a mobile phone for a long period increases the risk of myopia. In such a situation, experts advise using a mobile phone at a limited and appropriate distance. Now the question arises, how is continuous use of mobile phones dangerous for the eyes? And how far away should we keep the mobile from the eyes while using it?

Ophthalmologist and Head of the Department of Government Medical College Kannauj, Dr. Alok Ranjan has given information about the harmful effects of continuous use of mobile phones to News18.

According to Dr Alok Ranjan, continuous use of mobile phones is harmful to the eyes. Despite being aware of these risks, many people continue to spend excessive time on their mobile phones. Users indulge in various activities, from gaming to streaming movies, on their smartphones, often neglecting their health in the process. The light that emits from the mobile phone can be dangerous for the eyes and retina since it is not filtered by the cornea and lens. In this situation, many problems like fatigue, itching and dryness in the eyes, blurred vision and headache can occur.

According to experts, it is revealed that most users keep their smartphones at a distance of about 8 inches, which is harmful to the eyes. The closer you keep your mobile phone, the more damage it causes to your eyes. In such a situation, mobile phones should be kept at least 12 inches or 30 centimetres away from the face.

Every once in a while, it is necessary to blink your eyes while using a smartphone continuously. Blinking from time to time will keep the eyes moist, which will prevent dryness and irritation. Apart from this, blinking will also help your eyes to focus again. It is also advised to blink about 10-12 times in 15 minutes.

While using a mobile device, stick to the 20-20-20 formula: every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and look at something 20 feet away. This practice will help relieve eye strain and improve concentration. Additionally, adjust the screen brightness to match the ambient light around you. Ensuring that the screen’s brightness matches the surrounding light will minimize eye strain.
