In sports, stories of underdogs are always special. One such story in Indian football is Muthoot FA’s journey in the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) Season 3. After finishing third in the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) 2023 – 24, the Kochi-based side with play in the fifth edition of the Next Gen Cup featuring eight academy teams, including Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Everton, and Tottenham Hotspur, representing the Premier League.

They topped the qualifiers with 24 points from 10 matches, achieving eight wins and just two losses. Their impressive attack scored 27 goals, the highest in the qualifiers, while their solid defense allowed only 13 goals.

In the National Group Stage, Muthoot FA continued their impressive form. They finished first in Group B with the best goal difference of +14. A standout moment was their 8-0 win against Parappur FC, showcasing their offensive and defensive strengths.

Naveen Krishna: A Star in the Making

One player who epitomizes this journey is Naveen Krishna, a midfielder from Kerala with dreams of playing in the Indian Super League (ISL) and the Indian National Team. Born in Kerala, Naveen started playing football at the age of 12 on a small state ground near his house. His early talent earned him a spot in the under-17 team of Kickstart FC in Bangalore, where he quickly rose to the main team. He later moved to Muthoot FA but faced a setback due to an injury last year. Now fully recovered, Naveen is excited to showcase his skills in the Next Generation Cup.
