Canon has bolstered its EOS R camera series with the global launch, including India, of the EOS R1 and R5 Mark II models. The flagship EOS R5 Mark II features a new 45-megapixel back-illuminated (BI) CMOS sensor, while the Canon EOS R1 is equipped with a powerful 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor. Both cameras boast DIGIC Accelerator and DIGIC X image processors, enhancing their capabilities for advanced photography and video workflows.
The company claims that the EOS R1 is designed for the most extreme working situations. It comes with a 40-fps electronic shutter, new imaging and autofocus systems that can record 6K-resolution video. In addition to that, the Canon EOS R5 Mark II is an “all-rounder,” capable of capturing 8K videos at 60 fps, reported HT Tech.
Canon EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II: Price in India
The Canon EOS R1 will be available by the end of November for Rs 6,30,995 in the Indian market. Shutterbugs can buy the cooling fan battery grip for Rs 40,995, whereas the battery grip with LAN will come with a price tag of Rs 80,995. Other accessories, like a standard battery grip, are priced at Rs 34,995, while the LP-E6P battery will cost Rs 7,995.
The Canon EOS R5 Mark II, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 4,05,995 for the camera body, while the Canon EOS R5 Mark II with RF24-105mm f/4L IS USM kit can be grabbed for Rs 5,05,995. Moreover, the company is selling the CF-R20EP cooling fan battery grip for Rs 40,995 and the BG-R20EP battery grip with LAN for Rs 80,995.
The BG-R20 battery grip is priced at Rs 34,995 and an additional LP-E6P battery is priced at Rs 7,995. Those who are interested in purchasing these devices should note that the Canon EOS R5 Mark II will go on sale starting in August.
Canon EOS R1: Features
The newly launched camera houses a full-frame CMOS sensor, which is capable of delivering powerful image processing and autofocus performance. It features a 119.88 fps refresh rate and a 0.64-inch OLED viewfinder with 9.44 million dots of resolution. The camera can hit 12 fps with a mechanical and electronic first curtain shutter, and the maximum shutter speed with an electronic shutter can go up to 1/64,000 seconds. It is worth noting that the EOS R1 bears a resemblance to the recently launched model, the Canon EOS R3.
For videos, the Canon EOS R1 is capable of capturing 6K/60p footage in proprietary Canon RAW format. The company claims to offer up to 1.30 hours of high-frame movie recording time and up to six hours of movie recording time on a single charge. It also supports two memory cards with up to 2TB capacity.
It boasts an LP-E19 battery and supports USB charging. Moreover, some other connectivity options in the device include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, Ethernet and USB-C PD, among others.
The new Dual Pixel Intelligent AF system provides improved subject tracking and detection while shooting video or stills. Another function called Register People Priority helps users track pre-registered people in a crowd.
Canon EOS R5 Mark II Features
The mirrorless Canon EOS R5 Mark II features a 0.5-inch OLED viewfinder with a 5.76 million-dot resolution and a 59.94/119.88 fps refresh rate. The burst shooting speeds on the Canon EOS R5 Mark II are rated at 12 fps with the electronic first curtain and mechanical shutter. It can record 4K video at 120p, 8K video at 60fps, and full-HD at 240p. Powered by a new LP-E6P battery, the Canon EOS R5 Mark II can be charged with the LC-E6 charger. Moreover, users can combine the camera with the battery grips BG-R20 and BG-R20EP for enhanced performance.
